What is WPilot?
WPilot connects WordPress and WooCommerce to compatible AI assistants so authorized site actions can be managed from a chat interface.
Instead of repeatedly opening WordPress admin screens, you can ask your AI assistant to inspect the site, work with pages and posts, manage supported plugins, and work with WooCommerce products.
WPilot is an independent product by BF Development.
Current Features
- Read WordPress, PHP, theme and basic site information
- List, create, read and update pages and posts
- Restore supported page/post revisions
- List WordPress Media Library items
- List installed plugins
- Install plugins from WordPress.org
- Activate and deactivate supported plugins
- List WooCommerce products and categories
- Create and update simple WooCommerce products
- Change product price, sale price and stock
- Read WooCommerce order summaries without customer addresses
- Keep a local history of recent WPilot actions
- Secure site pairing and OAuth authorization
- Persistent connection storage on the WPilot service
Requirements
WordPress 6.2 or newer is required. PHP 8.0 or newer is required.
WooCommerce is optional. WooCommerce features are available only when WooCommerce is installed and active.
To use WPilot from an AI assistant during Early Access, the assistant must support remote MCP/custom connectors.
Installation
- Download
wpilot-0.4.1.zip. - In WordPress go to Plugins → Add New Plugin → Upload Plugin.
- Upload the ZIP file and activate WPilot.
- Open WPilot from the WordPress admin menu.
- Review and accept the external-service disclosure.
- The onboarding survey is optional.
- Click Connect WPilot to pair the website with the WPilot service.
- During Early Access, add the WPilot MCP connector to your compatible AI assistant and authorize it.
MCP endpoint: https://api.bfdevelopment.tech/mcp
Future public connector/app distribution is planned so manual MCP setup will not be required.
Example Commands
“List my WordPress pages.”
“Create a new page called About Us as a draft.”
“Show me the installed plugins.”
“Create a WooCommerce product called Test Product for 100 EUR and keep it as a draft.”
“Change product 8922 stock to 5.”
“List my latest WooCommerce orders.”
WooCommerce
WPilot currently supports simple products.
Supported product actions include reading products, creating products, updating names and descriptions, regular and sale prices, SKU, publication status, stock, categories and an existing WordPress Media Library featured-image ID.
Order access is currently read-only and intentionally excludes customer addresses.
Rollback and History
WPilot supports WordPress revisions for supported page and post edits.
WPilot also stores a local action history in WordPress.
Broader rollback for WooCommerce, theme settings, Elementor and full-site recovery points is planned for future versions.
Security
WPilot never needs your WordPress admin password, FTP password or database password.
The WordPress plugin creates a dedicated connection credential for WPilot. The WPilot service stores supported connection secrets encrypted at rest.
Potentially sensitive actions should only be performed after an authorized user requests them.
WPilot blocks remote self-deactivation of the WPilot plugin.
Privacy
WPilot uses the BF Development WPilot service at:
https://api.bfdevelopment.tech
The service is used for pairing, OAuth authorization and routing authorized tool requests.
The optional onboarding survey is not required to use WPilot.

Updating WPilot
Install the new WPilot ZIP over the existing wpilot plugin.
WPilot is designed to preserve the existing connection during normal plugin updates.
Backend connection information is stored persistently so service redeployments should not require reconnecting already paired sites.
Troubleshooting
WPilot says the website is not connected
Open WPilot in WordPress and run the connection flow again.
The AI assistant cannot see new tools after an update
Refresh or reconnect the WPilot connector in the AI assistant so it reloads the latest MCP tool definitions.
WooCommerce tools are unavailable
Make sure WooCommerce is installed and active.
